Langtang Valley Trekking - 12 days

In less than two weeks, a deep insight into the remote lifestyle of Nepal with a backdrop of astonishing vistas of the Himalayas walking thru lush bushes with alluring floras and faunas is what Langtang Valley Trekking offers. Langtang Valley is an isolated valley with native people Tamangs and Sherpas whose livelihood are alike Tibetan. It is also a national park, Langtang National Park, which is preserving some rare species of herbs and wildlife.

Our Langtang Valley Trek will begin after the arrangement of necessary documents and permits. Along with proper briefing about the trek from Kathmandu with an amazing drive up to Syabrubesi. Then onwards, we will head towards Kyangin Gompa passing by several small settlements, grasslands, and lush bushes.

After reaching there, we will acclimatize there the next day to ensure that you get proper rest; and to prevent from altitude-related problems. During acclimatization, we will climb up to Tserko Ri at 5,000m to enjoy the breathtaking sunrise over Langtang ranges; again, climb back to Kyangin Gompa. Dorje Lakpa, Langtang Ri and Langtang Lirung are also picture-perfect from there.

Afterward, we will return back via the same route enjoying the same sceneries one more time from a different aspect. It is no doubt that this trek will leave with no words with the pure beauty of nature and the warm welcoming of the locals beyond imagination. Langtang Valley Trek is an ideal option for those who have a deep want to expose all these but have a short duration of time as well as want to skip physical challenges required for such treks.

Langtang Valley Trekking is a short and leisurely trek which can be joined by anyone and doesn’t necessarily require any previous experiences. But it is highly recommended to be physically fit and have proper health check-up before proceeding. And the question may arise when to go? Well, the trek can be embarked upon anytime around the year. But to enjoy the finest Langtang Valley Trek, the best decision would be to trek in between spring or autumn months.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)

  • You will be transferred to your respective hotel by our representative after you arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and complete the required procedures at the immigration. 

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing | Trek Preparation day

  • After your breakfast, a private car and a tour guide will pick you up from the hotel you are staying at.
  • You will be exploring the beautiful and though-provoking ancient UNESCO World Heritage Sites sited in Kathmandu like Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swoyambhunath, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Kathamandu Durbar Square etc. 

Day 03: Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1550m): 145 km  (7/8 hrs drive)

  • After breakfast, we will commence our journey towards the Langtang region of Nepal with a long and scenic drive up to Syabrubesi via zig-zag and windy bona-fide Pasang Lhamu HighwayAlong the way, we can have the beautiful sight of rural settlements, terraced fields, and of course, the mountain panorama to accompany us. 
  • Stay Overnight at the touristic hill town, Syabrubesi. 

Day 04:  Syabru Besi to Lama Hotel (2480m): 5 /6hrs walk

  • Today onwards, we will be trekking and exploring the natural enrichment of the region. We will start our day crossing the Bhote Koshi River and following the bank of Langtang River for proceeding further towards Lama Hotel passing by several settlements, bushes, waterfalls, suspension bridges, and many interesting and exciting things to make our trip special. 
  • Stay Overnight at Lama Hotel.

Day 05: Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3430m): 5/ 6 hrs walk

  • And today, we are going to get ourselves at the Langtang Village, the main destination of our trek. Our journey shall lead us from Lama Hotel to Langtang village via ascents through the jungles with rhododendron, hemlocks, and maples in abundance whereas we might even encounter with some of the rare and endangered species of animals, birds as well as herbs during the trek. We will be passing by several rural settlements enjoying the eye-dazzling sceneries of mountain ranges, especially Langtang ranges before we reach the enthralling Langtang village enriched with Buddhist culture welcoming the tourists with fluttering prayer flags, chortens, stone sculptures and many more. 
  • Stay Overnight at Langtang Village.

Day 06: Langtang to Kyanjin Gompa (3860m): 3/4 hrs walk

  • After exploring the culturally rich and naturally blissed Langtang Village, we shall be making our way via yak pastures and a few small villages towards the age-old monastery at the small but historic settlement of Kyanjin Gompa. We can also explore the cheese making process and taste the Yak cheese at the government-owned cheese factory at Kyanjin besides the natural sceneries which is obviously revitalizing and worth the walk. 
  • Stay Overnight at Kyanjin Gompa.

Day 07: Acclimatization Day | Day Hike to Kyanjin Ri (4600m) Or Tsergo Ri (4985m)

  • We will acclimatize at Kyanjin Gompa to ensure that you get proper rest; and to prevent from altitude-related problems. During acclimatization, we will climb up to Tserko Ri at 5,000m (or Kyanjin Ri at 4,600m) to enjoy the breathtaking sunrise over Langtang ranges; again, climb back to Kyangin Gompa. Dorje Lakpa, Langtang Ri and Langtang Lirung are also picture-perfect from there.
  • Stay Overnight at Kyanjin Gompa.

Day 08: Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel (2480m): 5/6 hrs walk

  • Today, we will return back via the same route enjoying the same sceneries one more time from a different aspect. It is no doubt that this trek will leave with no words with the pure beauty of nature and the warm welcoming of the locals beyond imagination. 
  • Stay Overnight at Lama Hotel.

Day 09: Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2260m): 4/5 hrs walk

  • We will be making our way back to Thulo Syabru after enjoying the astounding sunrise view from Lama Hotel. We shall walk across bushes with bamboo and rhododendron forests and pass by several small settlements, cross small bridges and have numerous ascents and descents before reaching Thulo Syabru where we stay overnight. 

Day  10: Thulo Syabru to Dhunche Bazaar (1990m): 4/5 hrs walk

  • After breakfast, we will be heading back towards Dhunche Bazaar, the touristic hill town and rest and relax there with all the memories of Langtang Valley Trekking.

Day 11: Dhunche Bazaar to Kathmandu

  • Driving via off-road and zig-zag winding road up to Trishuli from Dhunche Bazaar, we will drive back to Kathmandu with same scenic and bona-fide ride on Pasang Lhamu Highway.

Day 12: Final Departure

  • Having all the baggage, souvenir and memories of one of the best trekking in the world, it’s time to leave towards your corresponding destination. Hope you love the Langtang Valley Trek and will be visiting Nepal again in near future for some other treks.
