Everest Region

Everest Region aka Khumbu (in local language) is the home to the highest peak in the world, Mt. Everest which stands tall at 8,848m above sea level. Besides, this northeastern region of Nepal is one of the most famous destinations with several highest peaks which allures trekkers, hikers and mountaineers all over the world. To embark for this trek, you need to issue a special permit i.e. Sagarmatha National Park Entrance Permit. Apart from nature and ecology, the ethnicity of the Everest region is also remarkable. The indigenous of this region are Sherpas who are often considered as “the born mountaineers”. Even the first Everest Summiteer, Sir Edmund Hilary wouldn’t have made it to the top without the companion of Tenzing Norgay “Sherpa”. They are highly influenced by Tibetan lifestyle and culture and even their language, foods and uniforms are alike Tibetan.
